Our Mission
Empowering Darke County Youth is a 501c3 United Way Agency providing After School and Summer Tutoring programs to assist students in the areas of language arts and math with the goal of Strong Students for a Strong Community (click here for the Empower Darke County Youth Bylaws)
From the Beginning
The staff and volunteers of Empowering Darke County Youth have been helping school aged children in Darke County Ohio since March of 2016. Empowering later became a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in September of 2016, and currently utilizes certified tutors and volunteers to serve students ranging from 1st through 8th grade.
Growth
Empowering Darke County Youth provides tutoring at no cost to the community. The program has grown significantly since its inception and has received considerable community support over the years.
EDCY’s initial program was summer tutoring at Edison State Community College and Greenville Public Library in 2016. Since then, EDCY has added two After School Programs in Greenville, and one each in Ansonia and Arcanum-Butler. Mississinawa Valley will be joining our organization with summer and after school services in 2022.
Empowering will continue to strive for high quality learning and improvement for the students it serves. EDCY hopes to continue its growth to any Darke County school district that wants our services.
